AEO-T1 Certification in India: A Complete Guide for Importers & Exporters
Introduction to AEO-T1 Certification
In today’s global trade environment, businesses involved in imports and exports are expected not only to comply with customs laws but also to demonstrate transparency, reliability, and strong internal controls. To encourage trusted trade and faster movement of goods, Indian Customs introduced the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme.
The AEO-T1 Certification is the entry-level tier of this programme, designed specifically for importers and exporters who have demonstrated a basic level of compliance with customs laws and procedures. It provides significant trade facilitation benefits, reduced interventions, and faster cargo clearance, making it an ideal starting point for businesses looking to optimize their supply chain efficiency.
AEO-T1 is governed by CBIC Circular No. 33/2016–Customs dated 22 July 2016, which merged the earlier Accredited Client Programme (ACP) and AEO schemes into a unified structure.
What is AEO-T1?
